Research focus

  • Epidermal Clinical: skin pathology, occupational and environmental dermatology, genodermatosis, wound healing, irritant and allergic contact dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, dry skin and aged skin, skin care

  • Basic research: barrier function of the skin, lipids (in particular ceramids and fatty acids) in skin barrier function, epidermal differentiation in skin barrier function, eczema and psoriasis, cytokines in skin barrier function and wound healing
    adhesion molecules in skin barrier function and wound healing, antimicrobial defense of the skin, skin pharmacology and toxicology, role of urea in eczema, psoriasis and dry skin, lipids and skin barrier function in eczema and psoriasis
